“One of my fondest-childhood-memories was baking with my grandmother Aina, using a spillkum. It was white and very big, made in bone china, beautifully shaped and functional with its spout for pouring. But I wanted to be able to bake the bread or cook directly in it and use it for serving – from oven to table”, Johanna, founder.
A small artisan potter in Portugal made the first mold for PEEP based on Johanna’s sketches and clear vision. PEEP launched in 2012, and was produced in a variety of stackable sizes. Our smallest bowl, measuring twelve centimeters, is perfect for sauces or side dishes, while the two middle-sized ones are suitable for salads and servings - the largest is best for baking bread. Something Johanna, and her family enjoy!
“The rural countryside of my family home in Norrbotten is mainly known for its flatbread. My family still follows the ancient tradition of baking bread in the village-bread-oven a few times per year. I remember coming home after school to the smell of freshly baked bread – so comforting...I still love to bake, and the quality of bread is very important to our family. We prefer baking ourselves, or buy from a craft-baker”, Johanna.
Peep is available in four sizes and three glazes - Cotton White, Matte Black and Matte Gray. In March 2022 we welcome a fourth glaze called Linen, similar to the color SAND in the DARIA collection. All made in durable, oven-safe-stoneware. Adding to the space-saving, stackable and material-conscious tableware that goes to show that even the most simple of objects can be elevated for aesthetic and practical improvement.
