DARIA Stoneware – Transforming Tableware
“I wanted to produce a simpler, more minimalist series to complement DAISY. Designed around the essential needs of shapes, sizes and colors in my own kitchen”, Johanna Hampf founder.
The seed became the starting point - to play with the proportion and repetition, compositions of overlapping and interacting-forms. Drawing on the transience of the natural world when making functional wares.
“DARIA is the little sister of DAISY, which is more detailed with its blooming décor. I like to think it’s like a family, with complementing personalities”, Johanna
DARIA was the first large series that we designed and developed from our needs and wants. It was a slow evolution that took two years from sketch to finished product. We took one step at a time, as function and craftsmanship can’t be rushed. DARIA is still evolving with our twelfth shape released in March 2022.
The earthy colors - Moss and River, is our tribute to the Swedish region Norrbotten with dark, saturated colors of the woodland of Johanna’s heritage, that can be dramatic, but at the same time comforting. DARIA consists of eight colors, (and growing), as colors are in the DNA of PotteryJo, it’s our foundation and joy. All glazes are beautiful both on their own and in combinations, just like with family. PotteryJo plates, bowls and servers each have their own character and bring style and charm to every mealtime.
In January 2021 this collection was updated from earthenware to stoneware for a more durable collation.
