One of the largest interior trends 2021 is to decorate your home with color. A shade that stands out a little extra is blue – the color of both the sky and the sea that historically has been associated with open spaces, freedom, and inspiration. Use our guidelines below to embrace the trend and start adding something blue to your table!
Blue is associated with calm, loyalty, and freedom. Since it is the color of both the sky and the sea, it is recognizable among almost all humans and has always played a key role in our lives. When you think of it that way, it is not surprising that it has become the most beloved of trends for 2021. But how do you embrace the trend in the best and easiest way? PotteryJo will guide you through it.
Use blue tableware
The easiest way to take advantage of the trend is to use blue tableware. Our DAISY collection is available in both the shades dusty blue and soon DARIA in riverblue, depending if you wish to go with a lighter or darker setting. Do not be afraid to go all in – the more blue the better! Dare to use blue dinner plates, dessert plates, and mugs. To be extra trendy, you can add some pastel colored candles in light pink and yellow. Adding contrasting colors will make the blue tableware pop!
Make use of what you have
We love new and fun trends, but we also love a sustainable mindset. There is no need to buy new things every time a trend comes along. Use what you have instead! For example: if you do not have any blue tableware, make sure to add some blue details. Maybe you have a pair of old jeans in your closet that you have promised yourself to use more often, but never do? Cut napkins of them. It can easily be done and there is no need to hem the seams – the frayed look is trendy too. Go through your home and bring everything blue to the kitchen table. It may seem chaotic at first, but if you play around with the different items we promise you that the outcome will be fantastic. Here we list a few other tips on how to make use of what you already have:
- Use a blue table cloth (or dye one on your own!). This will make the setting seem blue, even if your tableware is not
- Ask your friends, your mother-in-law, or your grandparents if they have something blue they never use. As trends come and go in circles, we almost dare to promise that they will at least have something!
- Do you have any blue kitchen towels? Use them as placemats!
Add blue flowers
One tip we gladly give is adding fresh flowers to your table setting. Flowers are one of the easiest ways to change up your setting, and at the same time create an inspiring and natural atmosphere. Flowers such as blue hydrangea, delphinium, and anemones will give you the trendy feeling you are looking for, without costing a fortune. For a maximized result, use a blue vase! Our large DAISY jug in the color navy will do the job.
